For adults over 50, the benefits of healthy eating include increased mental acuteness, resistance to illness and disease, higher energy levels, faster recuperation times, and better management of chronic health problems. As we age, eating well can also be the key to a positive outlook and staying emotionally balanced. But healthy eating doesn’t have to be about dieting and sacrifice. Whatever your age…eating well should be all about fresh colorful food, creativity in the kitchen, and eating with friends.

  • A hearty daily meal at noon that meets the RDA requirements for seniors offered at a $3/donation. Those under 60 pay $4.
  • Alternatives to the daily noon meal include lighter choices such as salads that still meet nutritional needs for seniors at $4 – a great price for a healthy lunch.
  • Coming soon we’ll be offering picnic lunches along the Allegheny River, too!
  • Concerned about your weight? Join the TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) or the Weight Watchers class! They meet weekly at convenient times.
  • The ACC offers educational sessions regularly to help you manage chronic disease such as diabetes. Call us for info!
