Wednesday, June 8th @ Betts Park,

DeFrees Pavilion (by the tennis courts) Check in @ 9 AM

Seniors age 55 and over are invited to participate in the picnic and games that are planned for Wednesday, June 8th, at the Defrees Pavilion (next to the tennis courts), at Betts Park.  This event is a fun-filled day of games, food and entertainment for people to come out and enjoy the each other’s company and be engaged in healthy activities.

Competitions will be held as usual in ½- & 1-mile walks, softball toss, corn-hole bean bag toss, putting (golf), table shuffleboard, goofy golf, Jarts, croquet, ring toss, and new for this year, Frisbee golf.  This event is set up for a 3 hole golf-type contest using Frisbees instead of golf clubs. Participants try to get the Frisbee in the metal basket, making the fewest possible throws. Everyone competes in three different age categories for both men and women: 55-67, 68-77, and 78 & over and will choose 3 events in which to be scored. Participants may play all of the games for fun, but will only be eligible for ribbons in the three events of their choice. Ribbons are provided for the overall male/female winners as well as the first three finishers in each age group for all events. Everyone will receive a ribbon just for their participation, even if they didn’t place in the top three in an event.

The Allegheny Community Center, in partnership with the Eldercare Council organizes the Senior Games with committee representatives from Experience, Inc., Congressman Thompson’s, staff, the Eldercare Council, as well as area senior centers.

The registration fee is $3 for event participants and for spectators who wish to just have lunch and enjoy watching the events.  Lunch will include hamburgers or hot dogs, potato salad, fruit with dip, beverages and dessert. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.

The Senior Games are always a good time for people all ages, from the oldest participant in their 90’s to those in their 50’s!  They are all about great food, fun games and socializing with friends.

Reservations for the event are necessary and will be taken until Thursday, June 12th.  The registration forms are available by calling the ACC office at 42 Clark Street in Warren, or by calling them at 723-3237, as well at the Sheffield Hospitality Center, Tidioute, Marienville and Endeavor Senior Centers.
